risingcometSo like a week ago I finally decided watch gameplay of Deltarune chapter 3 and 4. I probably should've done it earlier but PROCRASTINATION AHHHH. And now that im finished and im all caught up, Im currently in love with a TV head with extreme attachment issues and an ex-husband.
EXTREME SPOILERS below.
I honestly didnt expect to get hit THIS hard. Which was honestly pretty stupid considering my past with Toby Fox and his creations. When undertale dropped, I was obsessed. When deltarune chapter 1 dropped, I was obsessed. When chapter 2 dropped, guess what, I was obsessed! Only natural that the cycle would continue.
Time for me to actually talk about the chapters, they really were amazing. I know chapter 3 wasn't supposed to get all the silliness out to prepare for chapter 4 and the stakes getting higher (although that's not to say that 4 didnt have its goofy moments COUGH COUGH Jackenstein), but it still had its sadder and heartfelt moments.
For example, Mr. (Ant) Tenna, TV head who's a child of divorce.
He's the host of the show Mr. (Ant) Tenna's TV Time, a gameshow we spend most of our time playing. It's fine at first, play the board, do the physical challenge, and the game ends. Except not really. Tenna fucking kicks away the credits and insists the fun gang plays one more round.
He's desperate to keep us playing and entertained. And when Susie and Ralsei put their foot down by the end of the second round, he crashes out and just forces us go along with it. To keep our eyes on him, to not forget him. Tenna forces us to say "I LOVE TV" as a way to reassure himself that hes still got it, that he won't be thrown away.
When we defeat Tenna in what's supposed to be the final battle, it seems like everything's going good. And then the ROARING FUCKIKG KNIGHT SLASHES HIS ARMS OFF AND KILLS HIM??? AND THEN WE FIGHT THE ROARING KNIGHT THEMSELVES???? IM STILL LOSING MY MIND OVER THIS WHY ARE THEY HERE ITS THE THIRD CHAPTER.
Also if you don’t recruit all the enemies in the TV World, he just dies frfr apparently. Yewouch. But if you require everyone and fix him up, you can either give Tenna to Mettaton, or put him in castle town. I want mettaton to be happy...but I also dont want to let go off Tenna. Difficult decision
This whole thing is just turning into "Sig yapping about Tenna" so I'll wrap it up for now, and save it for another post. But yeah I think chapter 3 is my favorite I love everyone there. Also ROULXS KAARD IS BISEXUAL AND POLY???? HE JOINS THE WEATHER COUPLE FOR A BIT BEFORE BEING KICKED OUT BUT HE WAS STILL DATING THEM. not that surprising but damn
Okay onto Chapter 4. This one has the best visuals out of all the chapters we have currently. The look of all three sanctuaries is just....chef's kiss. Mwah. Can't wait for Toby and Temmie to top it.
It also has an insane moment at the end, with us fighting A LITERAL TITIAN??? AND WINNING??? Although we probably couldn't have done it without Gerson but we still killed a titan. If you showed this to me 4 years ago I would've passed out.
I also like Gerson a lot. Old man. Bring me joy. And if I might add, the snow grave route genuinely scared me here. Deltarune isn't a horror game, but it sure has its moments where it makes me deeply uncomfortable. And I love it. Thanks Toby.
Let me touch on Susie's development for a bit. In the first chapter, she was an asshole. A true reminder of the whole "your choices dont matter" thing with her refusing to listen to us. But now, she's grown much kinder, and became a true hero, like the prophecy. Im so proud of her.
Speaking of the prophecy, the fact that Ralsei knew what was gonna happen, that Tenna was going to DIE and didnt say anything was a bit crazy to me. Tbf it would be quite awkward to go Yeah let's play along this guy's gonna die anyway.
In short: I am quite fond of the new chapters. Beware for a Spamtenna post in the future...possibly. Knawing at the bars of my enclosure they're so divorced
