Author's Note: SIG WRITES SOMETHING THAT IS NOT FLUFF???? SHOCKING. This is actually a fic that I started about 2 months ago, but only finished recently. This is actually somewhat a sequel to an unposted fic of mine, If Only I Was There. I've been meaning to post some Libretto fics to make them more easily accessible, but what’s been scaring me off is that they might be seen as a cringe. And what I want the least is my work to be made fun of. Although, no one besides my friends reads any Libretto stories because who really gives a fuck about some random person's ocs? Maybe I'll get around to it...

Apologies if this isn't that good. I don't go here that often, or at all.

The White Kingdom was the current residence of KAITO, who was just your average person to the townspeople. But to the people of other lands, he was an infamous bandit, who only stole the most valuable of artifacts. The bounty on his head was enormous, going well over 10000 gold coins. However, KAITO wasn’t worried about someone going after him; his ability to evade the law for long only added to his infamy.

That was, until today.

“Damn, I’m all out of bullets.” KAITO groaned. “I’ve got some more at my suite, but I’m not in the mood to go all the way back there.”

“I think you should, KAITO,” Miku commented. Although she was a citizen of the Dark Kingdom, the enemy of the White Kingdom, she came all the way here just to visit KAITO, her partner in crime! Also, the guards were stupid enough to let her in.

“Besides, our next heist co-”
“SHH! Don’t say that so loudly!”

“One of the knights could be around, and then they’d tell Hana, and then I’d get in trouble,” KAITO explained. “Forgot a bounty hunter, she’s the only person I’m scared of! That girl has the strength of a thousand men.”

“Speaking of bounty hunters, that reminded me of something I wanted to warn you about,” Miku said.

“I saw a bounty hunter walking around town, and there’s no way he's not looking for you. You have to be careful.”

KAITO burst out laughing, “Some bounty hunter? Please! Those guys could never catch up to me! Believe me, they’ve tried.”

“IT‘S NOT JUST SOME GUY, KAITO! It’s Kamui Gakupo, one of the most infamous hunters! That man has never missed a target, not once.” Miku insisted. “You have to be on guard, KAITO. Gakupo shouldn’t be underestimated.”

“I’ll live.” KAITO dismissed. “Never heard of this guy before, but he’d probably only give me a scratch. Thanks for the warning, but I’ll be fine.”

Miku shrugged, “Your funeral. I’ll make sure to lean over your casket and say I told you so!”

“Oh, please!” KAITO laughed, before saying goodbye and walking away.

Even though he was extremely confident that nothing was going to happen, he decided to go back to the inn. Nothing wrong with a little more security after all. But as he was making his way back, he started to get a certain feeling.

That he was being followed.

Something was off, he could feel it. However, when KAITO turned around, no one was there. At least, no one stood out to him. He had already assumed it was that Gakupo person that Miku was talking about. Although KAITO had never met this guy, he assumed that he’d be very…recognizable?

Maybe I should make a turn.” KAITO thought. He made a U-turn and analyzed the faces of the people around him. Not one person looked shocked or flustered, KAITO was safe!

Of course I’m fine, even if I’m out of ammo, I still got my strength! I’ll be just fine!” KAITO thought, chuckling to himself. Making the townspeople think he was a lunatic.

Just to be safe, he made one final turn into an alleyway. Just to see if he heard footsteps that weren’t his own. But KAITO was so confident that he’d be fine, he didn’t even bother to listen that closely. What’s the need for being so careful when he’d be just fine?

“There.”

Suddenly, something grabbed him by the back of his head and slammed him against the pavement. KAITO tried to get up and fight back, but the impact from the attack stopped him. He looked up at the unknown person, as they took the gun out of his holster and held it to his head. They then pinned one of his hands behind his back. This allowed KAITO to get a better look at this person, and they looked nothing like he was expecting.

The man had long purple hair that was put into a high ponytail. He looked to be around KAITO’s age and had blue eyes. The white shirt he was wearing had leather sleeves with buckle straps on them, which matched his leather pants. The man had brown combat boots and a curious look on his face.

“KAITO, the ever-wandering gunner and infamous larcenist. Am I correct?” He interrogated.

“And you must be Kamui Gakupo, eh?” KAITO retorted smugly.

“What an odd sense of tone, considering your situation, though yes, I am. But I am not here to make light conversation.” Gakupo said. “You’ve stolen some very precious artifacts from the Mochizuki family, most notably the princess’s necklace. I assume you’ve already sold off that, so I ask that you come back to their kingdom with me at once.”

”So, you want me to turn myself in?” KAITO asked.

“Over my dead body.”

Gakupo pressed KAITO’s own gun against his temple harder, “I see, very well then. Today’s my lucky day. King Mochizuki doesn’t care if you’re dead or alive. Just as long as someone brings you to him.”

KAITO just couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Although I find you a bit hilarious, I’m unsure what you find so funny,” Gakupo commented. “Someone as well-renowned as you, I would expect more of a challenge. Yet here you lie, not even bothering to fight back. How disappointing, but I’ll put you out of your shame now.”

He then pulled the trigger, but nothing happened. The bounty hunter tried again, but still nothing.

The hell?” Gakupo cursed under his breath. He decided to open the gun’s cylinder, unpinning KAITO’s arm.

With his hand no longer bound, KAITO was able to sit up and lunge at Gakupo, placing him in a chokehold, causing Gakupo to drop the gun to get KAITO’s hands off his throat. KAITO saw this as the perfect opportunity to tease his foe, despite him being the one with the injuries.

“You know, it’s rather unfair to catch your opponent off guard like you just did. But it was a good plan, I’ll give you that!” KAITO taunted. “You gave me a little challenge, so how about we do this another time?”

KAITO then picked up his gun from the floor, while Gakupo gasped for air. He then smirked at the bounty hunter.

“On a more even playing field, of course.”

He then took off, wiping the blood leaking from his nose on his fingers. His vision was getting more blurry by the minute, and his ears were ringing. He had to get to the forest. There, someone who knew healing magic would be able to help him get a speedy recovery. He’d be able to make it…surely…

Meanwhile, Gakupo caught his breath. And thought one thing in particular…

I hate that guy.

Author's Note for the end: THESE GUYS ARE SO FUCKING STUPID
